Wayne comesback and bests Frankfort.

I watched the best high school football game earlier at Pioneer field. We were down 21 to 0 at half time. The third quarter we were smoking hot. We came out of that locker room ready to play ball. And those boys did. (final score 27 to 21) We are now going to travel to Wheeling to watch the AA state football championship game. We will face off against Bluefield. I traveled to Wheeling in 2004 where we met Bluefield. (score 69 to 24) Bluefield's coach wouldn't put in the second string because he wanted to reach the highest score in a championship game. They were so rude and I felt so bad for Wayne. I want a Pioneer victory Friday night and so do so many others.

LETS GO PIONEERS!!!

All the way in AA
Wayne go all the way!

Ok, so I was looking at this website to get the score to the 2004 game and this is what i've found....

Looking through Years from 1958 - 2009.
Bluefield came to its first AA championship game in 1995 and lost. They have since had a 3 and 5 record.

Wayne came to its first championship game in 2000 and lost. They have since had a 1 and 2 record.

It's off to the playoffs....

Good Luck Pioneers!

I had a blast watching you boys play and win. I hope you all win all three playoff games and take us back to state. Then I want you boys to bring that state title back to Wayne County.

I missed last years game because I was living in Tampa. I was checking the score every hour.

Congratulations, to Tommy Harmon, for his 100th win as coach of the Wayne Pioneers.

LETS GOOOOO PIONEERS!!!

It's my family and Alexandria in the front row of the stands.

Tonight is the first Wayne High School football game. I am really excited to watch the excitement and spend time with my family. This will be Alexandria’s first game and I know the two of us will have a blast. I will keep you posted on the scores (even though I know you don’t give a shit).

Wayne Wins West Virginia Class AA State Football Championship

The only question entering Friday night’s West Virginia Class AA state football championship was exactly where in Wayne County the trophy would reside.

Arch-rivals Wayne and Tolsia, schools separated by about 25 miles, traveled more than 250 miles to Wheeling Island Stadium to determine which could officially claim to be the state’s best.

After a hard-fought 48 minutes, Wayne came out on top by a score of 33-6. The Pioneers led 7-6 at the break, but steadily pulled away in the second half.

The Rebels, led by one of the state’s best all-around players in senior B.J. Evans, were playing in their first football state championship. The Pioneers played in their third title game in the last six years.

Both teams entered the championship game with matching 11-2 records. Tolsia won the regular-season meeting by 11 points. The all-time series is now tied at 9-9.

Thousands of fans made the trek to Wheeling and braved the blustery conditions to cheer on the teams.

It was just the fifth time in state football history that two teams from the same county have met in the state championship game.

WAYNE PIONEERS

2006 STATE CHAMPIONS!

LET'S GO PIONEERS!

The Pioneers will play Wayne County rival Tolsia at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Wheeling Island Stadium for the Class AA state championship. It's Wayne's third trip to the Super Six state high school football championships in six seasons. Tolsia, who advanced with a 7-6 victory against James Monroe (12-1) on Friday, beat Wayne, 30-19, on Oct. 13.

"It's not what people on the outside think of you," said Wayne coach Tom Harmon of his young team. "There was a lot of luck involved, but our expectation level has not changed year in and year out.

"Both teams are rightfully there and earned the right to play for a state championship. There will be a state championship in Wayne County in AA for sure. Only, nobody knows who it will be, yet."

Wayne has a six-game winning streak with its last loss to Tolsia in which the Rebels' B.J. Evans rushed for a school-record 360 yards. But since that defeat the Pioneers had only allowed an average of seven points per game.
